Hi,

This new version of FeedbackServer is now available for download from our web site. Upgrade is free for existing customers with an up to date maintenance plan.

Starting with 5.3 we are introducing a new revolutionary system to extend the software easily called Answer Widget. Using Widget you can create your own extensions to the software without compilation by using just javascript and dhtml code. One of the great things about this new answer Widget system is that you can generate packages that you can export and import in any FeedbackServer installation to extend it with new features.

File upload - accepted content types

What is the correct format to enter the accepted content types into the file upload answer type? I have entered this: "image/jpg, image/gif, image/png, application/pdf, application/html, application/doc, application/docx, application/rtf" which covers all of the file types I would like to allow. However, I can only upload pdf and gif files. All others give the error "Content type of uploaded file is not accepted". Thanks!

"service unavailable" error message

I've been receiving occasional reports from users that they can not access a survey and get a message that says "service unavailable". I can't replicate the error but the reports seem to be coming in more frequently. Any ideas?

AnswersPrintReport - Custom Rendering

I am currently using AnswersPrintReport(...).RenderIText() to create a PDF of a survey's answers.

However, some of the question/answer rendering is not as clear as I would like, so I want to provide my own custom rendering for one or more answer types. Is this possible?

We've got an app, that calls FS to display surveys we've built, in an IFrame within our application. We are upgrading from version 2.2 to 5.2 and are testing the integration from our app to FS. We now get a Javascript error - resetFSDefault is undefined in fs.aspx - entering any data in any survey text box within our application.

We will be implementing a 600 question survey (mostly numeric values) and expecting 200-300 simultaneous users; 70000 participant surveys total.

Can you recommend MS-SQL database server configuration (#servers, 32b/64b, RAM, HD) to handle this load optimally?

Connection String error

Can someone help me understand why I'm getting this connection string error: the parameters I'm submitting are accurate.

I'm trying to integrate FS with Sharepoint. When I request the page this is the error referencing the connection string. In SQL management strudios the server name is placed in the string, the db feedbackserver is also established. Thanks!

Users are requesting anonynmous responses to the surveys, i.e. not collect/show their IP Address. Is there anyway that you can remove the following information from respondants answers and reports

Is it possible to track and remove choices after allotted supply is consumed?

Hello, I am new to Feedback Server and have a question that relates to ranked choices. We have elective classes with limited spots in each class. Students will be given an opportunity to rank which electives they'd like to take (1, 2, 3), Is it possible to create a Feedback Survey that could track the number of people who picked an elective as choice #1 and when the system has received the allotted spot number, the elective is removed as a choice? We would rely on submitted time stamp to fill the spots. I'm guessing no ... but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? Or perhaps people who have used this method in the past can suggest an effective way to sort through the information? Is it easier to have have a survey that branches depending on their choices ("I want to take this elective the most!")? Or one survey for each elective? I welcome suggestions on the most effective method of creating a survey that's easy for the students but also easy for the people who have to sort through the data. Thank you

Hi,

Is it possible to create a survey where the parcitipants' answers (in the reporting section) would be accessible by only one specific user without having to change the every user's permission.

I know that in the "User Management" option, for each user, you can uncheck the "Access to all surveys" and then select the surveys you want to give access to. The only problem is that by unchecking this option for everyone, whenever a user will create a new non-confidential folder, we will have to go back and give access to the new folder to everyone so that users can use it. This is problematic when we are over 25 users.

Is there a way that I can Secure the access to one surver without having to change everyone's permissions?

Piping Rating/Score Values

I would like to be able to include a hidden/calculated field which will be the average rating of piped values from a previous page. So, on page 1 I have a matrix question of 4 individually rated questions, and on page 2 I want to create a hidden question which will be the( [rating of q1]+[rating of q2]+[rating q3]+[rating q4])/4. I am wondering if I can do this, and if so, how do I refer to the rating (or score, either on will work). of the answer in my piping?

Hi Guys, Hoping someone can help me with an issue thats just cropped up with an Installation of Feedback Server 2.3.0.0 Its been working fine for the last couple of years with no issues and all of a sudden the team has gone to send out a new survey and when they goto DISTRIBUTION->EMAIL->SURVEY MAILING they get an Index Out Of Range error. Reporting at the "Section" Level

I am new to feedback server, and I cannot figure out how you create a report of survey responses at the "section" level.

ie: My sruvey will have Section 1 - then a few questions, Section 2, then a few questions, etc until Section n.

I want to be able to rollup the reporting/scoring so they are at the section level, not just at the question level.

Is there a way to do this within the report builder of feedback server?

How can I call to Feedback Server to allow a voter to execute a survey, i.e.

I have seen fs.aspx?surveyid=...

with surveyid as a parameter.

1. What additional parameter can I use to specify the username or voterid or something similar?

2. If no additional parameter is specified, how is the user/voter determined?

ExtendedAnswerItem Sample

Hi,

We are trying to implement an ExtendedAnswerItem class, but when we test/deploy it is not showing in the "Extended Properties" tab of the AnswerItem. In our implementation, the extended property is just a simple textbox that holds some value.

We also tried the sample provided in the SDK for the ExtendedAnswerItem, and it's also not showing in the "Extended Properties" tab of the AnswerItem.

Any ideas or sample code to implement this?

Dynamic Content Not Updating when going back to previous pages

Hi,

We just migrated to the latest Feedback server version 5.2 a few months back. And we recently noticed below issue:

We setup a form where a registration fee is displayed based on a dynamic content. Like Doctor = USD 50, Nurse = USD 100, etc.

1. Select a value, go to next page and display the dynamic content based on the selected value. This works fine.

Example:
Selected Value: Doctor
Displayed Value: USD 50

2. If you go back to previous page, then select another value. And go to next page again, it still displays the same dynamic content value. The new dynamic content value based on selected value was not displayed.

Example:
Selected Value: Nurse
Displayed Value: USD 50

This is a serious issue as we depend mostly on dynamic contents for our registration fees.

Please advise us on how we can resolve this issue.

Access to Care1. A patient was unable to get an appointment within 48 hours for an acute/serious problem

Setting defaults for repeating answers

I am trying to set defaults for a question that allows repeated answers (repeat mode = full answers repeat).

I am able to set defaults for individual answers, but cannot see how this would work for repeated answers. For example, if the user had created three rows of answers in a survey, I would like to persist that answer data to my data store, and then pre-populate that data the next time the user fills in the survey, with the correct number of rows filled in.

Is this possible in any way? As an added complication, the rows contain multiple (text) fields.

get all questions from a survey

Hi,

I try to get all questions from a survey by using the following code.

DataIllusion.FeedbackServer.DataAccess.Questions questions = new Questions();
QuestionData questionData = questions.GetQuestions(surveyId, true, true);

DataTable dataTableQuestions = questionData.Tables["Questions"];

       foreach (DataRow row in dataTableQuestions.Rows) {
            print(row["QuestionId"]);
        }

As a result I get the DataTable out of the questionData. If i loop through the DataTable i get 21 questions but there are 49 questions in this survey.

   surveyId: 2
   TableName: Questions
   nrOfRows: 21

What am I doing wrong?

Entry Validator Forces Mandatory

I have a Date-Calendar answer that I have set with entry validation of MSSQL - Small Date Time.

I do not want the field to be mandatory, so have not ticked the mandatory box.

However, leaving this field empty causes a validation warning, as if mandatory was ticked:

Date To is an invalid date please enter a valid date, eg : 1/17/2012!
Value of Date To must be between and January 1st 1753 and December 31 1999

How can I ensure that the supplied date is a valid SQL date, but also allow the answer to be left blank?
